2022 Violence Prevention Symposium

KEYNOTE: James Shaw, Jr. will share his account of the Nashville Waffle House shooting that occurred on April 22, 2018. On that day, a gunman walked into the dining establishment and executed four patrons while seriously injuring two others. In an effort to survive, Shaw successfully disarmed the shooter saving his own life and numerous others yet sustained a grazing bullet wound to the elbow and second degree burns from the gun barrel. The shooter was eventually detained by law enforcement and found guilty on four counts of murder.
