Crime Scene for First Responders

  • Southwest Technology Center Room 109 711 West Tamarack Road Altus, OK, 73521 United States (map)

The course is designed for commissioned officers, specifically for the first responding officers that arrive on a crime scene prior to any investigators and deal with the initial threats. The purpose of this course is to introduce the basic understanding of the first responder’s responsibilities in dealing with crime scenes and to broaden the understanding of basic crime scene investigative responsibilities. The basic crime scene responsibilities include: how to handle and document evidence on scene, ideas on what to do or not to do with evidence, how to document scenes with photographs, sketches, and ideas on report writing. This course will not certify first responders in any specific area, but is a general introductory course for crime scene investigations.
